Roller derby is a fun game to play, but it has a lot of rules! While you can pick up most of them by coming to practices, it will help to familiarize yourself with the basics. Here is an overview:
For more detail, you can read all the rules at rules.wftda.com.
In addition, PFM has a couple of simple rules we ask you to abide by in our practices and scrimmages:
- Be respectful and courteous to coaches and fellow skaters: NO side-talking, even to ask “what did she say?” when the coach is talking. If you don’t understand a drill, coaches will ask if there are any questions at the end of their explanations.
- We strictly uphold the “no douchebag” rule. This just means to be aware of the skill level of fellow skaters and not to dish out more than you know someone can take. Ours is a supportive environment in which we help each other.
